Although you probably mainly think about their performance during football season when you think about the Austin Wranglers, you have to remember that the gentlemen who make up the team are regular people just like anybody else. Therefore, they enjoy a wealth of different activities and hobbies during the off-season.

However, because these talented athletes are so invested in their team and their favorite sport, you can expect a lot of heavy practicing and sharpening of skills during the off-season, and the athletes still work out regularly and try to eat relatively healthy diets so that they can stay game-ready at all times. However, they do enjoy other things as well.

For instance, some of the guys have wives, girlfriends and children that they spend their off-season days with, especially since they do have to spend a lot of time away from them during football season. Some of the guys work regular jobs during the off-season, and others have a lot of hobbies that they enjoy. Some even spend time relaxing, watching television and munching on some of the snack foods that they can’t really eat during football season, enjoying their time off. Regardless of what they do during the off-season, however, these guys definitely mean business when football season comes around.

After a disappointing finish last season, the Austin Wranglers look to bounce back and capture some of the magic they displayed in their inaugural season. A few missed assignments on defense and what seemed to be an utter lack of offensive communication late in the season led to an unfortunate losing streak to close out the campaign.

The Wranglers have re-signed the majority of the starting offense and will be led once again by quarterback Chance Mock. His gritty determination was not enough last year to overcome a nagging shoulder injury, but reports say that he will start the season healthy. His two favorite targets, Otis Amey and Sedrick Robinson, will return to catch Mock’s passes on the outside. Leading rusher Derrick Lewis will fill the backfield in a limited role.

The defense is revamping its structure this season as new league rules allow the defense to make free substitutions. This will allow the Wrangler’s defensive backs Kenny Smith and Greg Brown more freedom to rush the passer and still count on grabbing the occasional breather. Toure Carter and Kevin Nickerson will play defense on the wide-outs and plan to do a better job of minimizing long passes to the outside.

The Austin Wranglers lasted 4 years in arena football before fading into the oblivion that is arena football history. It seems to be a hard business, with many teams coming and going with each new season. 2004 – 2008 was the era of the Wranglers, and they succeeded in making two playoff appearances during their tenure. One was in 2006 for the Arena Football League (AFL), and the other was for the AF2 arena football league. Unfortunately, financial difficulties could not be avoided, and the team finally wrangled their last game in the Frank Erwin Center.Additional information can be found at http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2012/apr/19/lely-alum-eloi-signs-arena-football-league-team/?partner=RSS.

Three different head coaches took the helm during the Austin Wrangler’s time of glory. The first two (Skip Foster and Brian Partlow) never got above a .500 winning percentage. The last coach was Ben Bennett, who had been an impressive college quarterback, and also had had previous success with the Florida Firecats. Nevertheless, 6-5 proved to be the best record that the Austin team could post before the team dissolved after 2008. Many people were disheartened to see the Austin Wranglers franchise disintegrate like it did, but fortunately, there is plenty of college and professional football to take up the slack in the surrounding area.

The Austin Wranglers were a team within the Arena Football league or AFL. This team was located in Austin, Texas. They were a part of this league from 2004 until 2007. They then played one year, in 2008, within the AF2 league, which is a developmental league of the AFL.

The mascot that had been chosen for this team when it began in 2004 was a horse that had been named Blaze. In 2005, the team had made an addition to their mascot and had added a cowboy named Red Eye. This addition to the mascot team had eyes that glowed red, which helped in giving him his name.

When an AFL expansion team was formed in Utah in 2006, they choose their name to be the Blaze. The Austin Wranglers then decided to change the name of their mascot to avoid any confusion within the league or with their fans. The name they then choose for their horse was Trigger. In addition to this name change, they had also changed the appearance of the horse which basically give them a new mascot. This horse had more of a wild appearance to it. This remained their mascot through the remainder of the years as a team.

Austine Wranglers Football Team organized a training camp in the wild life sanctuary. The training camp lasted for a period of three months. It was arranged to improve on some skills among the players including: working together, listening skills, Communication skills, time and self management skills among others.

It was a difficult yet enjoyable period as some team members shared. The most challenging part for the players was living simple life they were not used to. They had to wake up at four in the morning to do work outs so as to keep themselves fit and they were not eating the junk food they were used to in town. During the day, they were asked to do a number of difficult exercises which were extremely challenging.

The most memorable experience during the training camp was getting the opportunity to come across nature for those who are lovers of nature. There were a couple of wild animals. nature trails and viewing birds.

After the collapse of the three months, they were in sync with that kind of life and they incorporated the skills acquired in their day to day life. They were fit health wise thanks to the activities they performed during the training camp.
